Design work is created within a few days of your session and discussed via text and in person. The first session typically begins with 1–3 hours of layout, sizing, and placement before tattooing starts. Slight adjustments can be made, but a complete design change may require rescheduling and a new deposit.
The first session involves concept research, layout design, sizing, placement discussion, and beginning the tattoo. Tony researches your concept beforehand and narrows down the best approach with you in person before starting. Design work takes 1–3 hours depending on complexity.
For large projects like full sleeves or back pieces, booking two consecutive sessions (back-to-back days) is recommended to complete a significant portion of the work. A Premium Full Day (12+ hours, $3,500) is the other option for starting large-scale projects.

Cover-ups, custom work, and high-detail realism are the primary focus. All styles accepted on a fit basis.
Cover-ups require specific approaches to properly conceal existing work. Each project has its own estimate and time range. Darker, larger tattoos need concepts with enough contrast, detail, and texture. Laser removal may be suggested for heavily saturated pieces. Some designs require multiple layering sessions.
Yes. Concepts with large, light open areas are not recommended for cover-ups — they require multiple layering sessions to achieve proper coverage and may never fully hide darker ink. The design approach must be built around what's underneath.
Tattoos are placed strategically to flow with the body and maintain visual impact from a distance. The style typically involves large images that utilize the full space of each area for cohesive composition and detail — not just filling gaps.

The Work
Cover-ups, realism, custom work. All pieces are booked by application only.
The Artist
Tony Ray Aguirre is a premium tattoo artist based in Upland, California, operating out of a private studio in Southern California. With over 13 years of professional tattooing experience and 9 years specializing in cover-up work, he has built a reputation for solving the problems other artists won't touch.
His approach is rooted in design thinking — every tattoo is treated as a problem to be engineered, not just rendered. Cover-ups, in particular, require understanding what's underneath and building something that doesn't just hide it, but makes it irrelevant.
Tony works by application only, accepting a limited number of clients per week to ensure every session receives his full attention. Work is done at a private studio — no walk-ins, no compromises on environment or focus.
The Philosophy
Exceptional quality and service, ensuring each piece is something both client and artist can be confident and proud of. The goal is never just a tattoo — it's work that holds up 20 years from now and still means something. That's why the calendar stays limited and every project gets chosen deliberately.
